Acupuncture Treatment

What to Expect?

Picture
Upon making your appointment, you will receive an email with a secure link to your online intake form and consent forms, which are requested to be completed before the initial appointment.  The intake form can be somewhat lengthy but please make sure to be thorough, and check any symptoms that apply to you even if you don't think they are pertain to your current problem(s).  In Chinese medicine, all of your body systems are related to each other to maintain the balance in health.  Taking time to go through and fill out the online intake form carefully will help us establish a more informed Chinese diagnostic pattern and apply it to the treatment plan which enable us to address not only the surface symptoms but also the root cause of your problems.

On the First Appointment Day...

On the day of the first appointment, we will have an Intake Session where we discuss on where you are health-wise, identify purposes of the treatment, and plan the treatment protocol accordingly. This evaluation with a complete Chinese medical intake, including pulse and tongue diagnosis, takes about 15 minutes or more.

For a limited time, you will receive this evaluation for free.  If you are interested in getting this free evaluation, please contact us for more detail.

After the Evaluation...

When the evaluation is done, you will be on a massage table, dressed or with a patient exam gown depending on the approach selected so that needle insertion sites or treatment sites are exposed.  There will be an additional drape if necessary to protect your privacy.

Those needle insertion sites will be cleaned with a alcohol wipe and the actual insertion happens.  You may feel a tiny prick and/or some pressure when the needles are inserted but that is NOTHING like a getting a Flu Shot!!  Often time, you may not even feel anything at all.
Once all the insertion is over, then you will be resting for a while with those needles are still in.  An acupuncture treatment usually takes about 30 minutes or more, depending on the health issue to be treated.  Therefore, please allow 60-75 minutes for the first visit including the time for any questions you may have.  Follow-up visits will take about 45-60 minutes.

Services Offered:

New Patient Consultation & Evaluation   $80.00

For a limited time, you will receive a free evaluation.

Body or Ear Acupuncture Treatment  $85.00

Most common and usual treatment service offered.

Acupuncture Treatment with Manual Therapy Techniques   $125.00

Before or after the body and/or ear Acupuncture Treatment, manual manipulation such as Tui Na, Acupressure, Cupping, Joint Mobilization or Traction will be performed for about 30 minutes to enhance the benefit of the Acupuncture Treatment.

When You are Done...

After completing the treatment and all the needles were removed, you will take your time to dress and/or gather your belongings.  Then, we will have a quick post-session discussion. There, we will discuss any specific findings from your treatment, some tips and ideas for you to try to maintain the benefit of the treatment, and any feedback from you for future sessions.

Patients often ask how many visits are required to resolves their health problem.  Each person will respond to the treatment differently.  Most conditions require an average of 6-12 treatments to obtain therapeutic results, although some patients will respond well within 4-8 visits.
Others, however, may require a longer series of treatments - much depends on the severity and the chronic nature of the chief complaint.  As a general rule of thumb, it takes one month of twice a week visits for each year a patient has had a chronic problem.  Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can achieve excellent results, and there are few, if any, side effects.  However, it's not a quick fix.  Many patients would also schedule the next treatment at this time.  Hope you will, too.
