What to Expect?

Upon making your appointment, you will receive an email with a secure link to your online intake form and consent forms, which are requested to be completed before the initial session.  On the session day, we will discuss on where you are health-wise, identify purposes of the session, and plan the session accordingly. This intake session will usually last 5-10 minutes.

After the Intake...

After we have set our goal for the session, you will be on a massage table, dressed or undressed, depending on the approach selected.  Regardless, you will always be covered, and I will only drape the area to work on as needed. This is the time we will start a clock so you will get the full length of hands-on time for the session scheduled.

After completing the session, you will take your time to dress and/or gather your belongings.  Then, we will have a quick post-session discussion. There, we will discuss any specific findings from your session, some tips and ideas for you to try to maintain the benefit of the session, and any feedback from you for future sessions.  Many clients would also schedule thenext session at this time.  Hope you will, too.

Massage Techniques Used

Swedish Massage
Deep Tissue Therapy
Clinical Massage
Sports Massage
Oriental Techniques (such as Tui Na, Shiatsu, Anma, Thai Massage)
Energy Work
etc.
Swedish and Sports massage employ common techniques for relieving stress and tension, and consist of long gliding
stroke and kneading with massage cream. This is great for increasing circulation of blood, which often helps speeding up the body's natural healing process from injuries.

Deeper pressure is used for Deep Tissue Therapy for similar purposes.

In Clinical Massage, the therapist carefully analyzes the root causes of the client’s discomfort to solve problems. For example, many problems are associated with chronically shortened muscle tissues. Addressing the root cause helps correcting such problems. Techniques like stripping massage, trigger point work, and stretching are used to relieve chronic pain, and can also be beneficial for Pre and/or Post Sports Events therapy.
Oriental Techniques come in many types of bodyworks and modalities.  The ancient Chinese massage technique called Tui Na is noted for its characteristic use of stretching, vibration, rubbing, tapping, and extending range of motion of the joints. Shiatsu (finger pressure) and Anma (proportional friction) are traditional Japanese techniques and are applied to pressure points on the body using deep pressure with thumbs and/or elbows.  Thai Massage is very similar to Tui Na and works very effectively to increase flexibility.

These Oriental Massage Techniques are closely related to the use of Qi(Chi); the body’s electromagnetic energy or life force, and acupressure applied to the body’s 14 major channels (energy pathways) to promote the body’s ability to heal itself by balancing the flow of Qi.
